The school was established in 1962 from Hua Lian Private Secondary School after receiving government assistance at Jalan (Now site SJK(C) Hua Lian 1), where SMJK Hua Lian in the morning session and SMPC Hua Lian in the afternoon session. The school moved to its present address in 1967.
