Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC) is jointly proposed by senior leaders from Singapore and Guangdong to develop an iconic cooperation project in Guangdong, serves as a strategic platform for industrial upgrading and economic transformation for Guangdong. SSGKC is positioned as a unique, vibrant, and sustainable city that is highly attractive to both talents and knowledge-based industries. SSGKC, with a total site area of 123 sq km, is located centrally in the Guangzhou Eastern Scenic New Area. Half of the site area existing forest-covered mountains and protected green spaces, while the remaining 60 sq km land is expected to be developed in phases over the next 15 to 20 years. SSGKC is located in the northeast of Guangzhou City approximately 35 km from the city centre and 25 km, or a mere half-hour drive, from the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. SSGKC is strategically located in the heart of the economically vibrant Pearl River Delta and well-served by a network of high-speed rail, expressways and subways, providing fast and convenient access to the rest of Pearl River Delta and Guangdong Province. Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment and Development Co., Ltd (GKC Co) is a 50-50 joint venture company established by Singbridge and Guangzhou Development District Administrative Committee (GDDAC) and to be the master developer of the SSKGC. Singbridge is the wholly owned subsidiary of Temasek Holdings of Singapore. GKC Co is responsible for developing the Start-Up Area (SUA) as the first phase, and subsequently the rest in stages.
